Karren Doll Tolliver is from the Midwest USA and received a BA in English from Mississippi University for Women in 1984. Writing since she was a teenager, Karren brings a wide base of work- and travel-related experiences to her articles.

Technical IT Background

She worked as a computer network engineer, achieving the MCSE certificate in 1997 and writing the knowledge base and training materials for a proprietary software system.

International ExperienceShe lived in Germany in the late 1980's, learning the culture and language as well as traveling throughout Europe. In addition, Karren earned a CELTA certificate in 2005 and taught English as a second language in the Czech Republic. While there, she joined a group of Czech photographers and participated in several international exhibits. After teaching in Europe, Karren returned to Florida to direct an art gallery there, bringing the first international art exhibit and exchange to the gallery, as well as many other original and inventive exhibits and events. While at the gallery, she was responsible for writing press releases, quarterly newsletters, and most other communications.

Writer/Photographer

A photographer since 1984, she records adventures by camera, marrying them with her journals into entertaining blogs. In 2008, Karren combined travel stories and family food recipes from her travels into her first book, A Travel for Taste. She has won numerous photography awards and judged countless photo contests. In 2008, Karren participated in a photography project called "Point of View" and edited the English translation of the resulting book.

Presently, Karren is a freelance writer and photographic artist and is currently organizing more international artistic projects.
